Wins elusive for seniors in recent baseball games

It was a tough week for the Imperial seniors to find a win, losing three games in a five-day span to McCook, Holdrege and Cozad.
Two of the games went down to the wire with slim losses by just two and four-point margins.
Games are winding down for the seniors with just two games left on the regular season schedule before the district tournament July 20-24 in Gordon. The seniors’ state tourney will be played July 28 to Aug. 1.
After hosting Ogallala Tuesday night this week, the seniors will again be at home on Friday for a 6 p.m. game against Broken Bow.
The senior all-star game is set for July 12. Imperial is also scheduled for a round robin tournament in Holdrege July 13-15 if the juniors aren’t playing the state tournament.
The juniors are hosting the district tournament in Imperial, set for July 6-10.
Here’s a recap of last week’s senior action.
McCook game
Imperial was held scoreless in a 4-0 loss on the home field June 20.
McCook put runs across in three of the innings, scoring their first on a single in the second inning after neither team scored in the first. Mccook scored again in the fourth and fifth innings.
Recording Imperial’s five hits, all singles, were Bennett Bauerle, Trevor Peterson, Josie Peterson, Duncan Rector and Dominic Sis.
Austin Laird toed the rubber for the home team, allowing nine hits over seven innings of work. He struck out seven and walked one.
Holdrege game
In another home game last Thursday, Imperial battled with Holdrege but eventually fell 3-5.
