Rotary satellite club established in Palisade

A Rotary Satellite Club held its first official meeting on  June 2 at Sodtown Sundries in Palisade. They are a satellite club of the Imperial Rotary Club as they get started, and will be reaching out to Wauneta residents to hopefully add to their club and work together.
The group was inspired at the meeting when District Governor Jerry Milner, of Grand Island, and Governor Elect Dale Schultz, of Hastings, shared stories of international service projects as well as local partnerships and projects that make a difference in communities.
Interest sparked to start a club in the Palisade area when Stephanie Malcolm was exposed to the Rotary youth exchange program.
Her daughter, Matilda Malcolm, has hopes of getting accepted to the exchange program and has started the application process. Rotary exchange provides an opportunity for Rotary-sponsored students to experience life in another country.
“I wanted to spread the program to my area and think it’s very important for our youth to have experiences like the exchange as well as leadership training and support with RYLA,” said S. Malcolm.
