End of school celebration draws crowd

Bright sunshine and warm weather greeted a large crowd of CCS students following their last day of school for the 2017-18 school year May 23. Ice cream and activities were provided by the Imperial Chamber of Commerce. Students signed in to put their name in the drawing for several dozen door prizes. Each student also received a pair of bright-colored sunglasses. Above, six-year-old Ashlynn Pursley enjoys an ice cream cone served by Chamber members. Students tried to out-jump each other in potato sack races, while tug-of-war drew the most competitors with many screams of victory or defeat, below. Many students also tried their best at Limbo to see how low they could go. Chamber member Chris Lee said, “Give ‘em ice cream, games, prizes and let ‘em run!” (Johnson Publications photos)
