Family heads flower shop, nursery

    Fresh flowers as well as greenhouse plants are available for sale now at the newly-opened 3 Country Chicks and S&T Ventures’ Gardens and Greenhouse.
    Located at 1615 Broadway, 3 Country Chicks has been around for awhile but now has a permanent location.
    One of the “chicks,” Dotty Bartels, said they started off doing popup stores downtown and were on the road doing craft shows.
    “Then we just decided to do just the flowers,” Bartels said.
    The chicks do everything from corsages to arrangements.
    “Really anything that has to do with fresh flowers,” Bartels said.
    The greenhouse side of the business, operated by Sid and Tami Bartels of S&T Ventures, started this spring.
    “(Sid) has been nurturing the plants for probably three to four months,” Dotty added.
    While the two businesses are separate, they are related.
    Normal business hours for 3 Country Chicks will be Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
    Hours for S&T are 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday through Saturday.
    A grand opening for the two businesses will be held this Saturday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
    There will be registration for door prizes, and cookies and coffee will be served.
    The business property for the new operations was purchased from Bruce and Dianne Way.
