Fair entertainers celebrated in country music industry

I’m not one to watch a lot of those awards shows like the Oscars or the many others. But I do try to schedule time to watch the Academy of Country Music (ACM) awards each spring.
This year’s program on Sunday night was truly enjoyable, and for Chase County Fair fans, one of note. One of the big winners was Brothers Osborne, who will be performing this year at the fair on Friday night, Aug. 17. They earned both the Vocal Duo of the Year and Video of the Year awards.
And, at least two of previous Chase County Fair country performers won other big awards Sunday night.
That says a lot about the continued quality entertainment lineup for which the Chase County Fair is known. Our fair board works hard at maintaining that level of entertainment started decades ago.
It’s interesting to note the first summer I was here in the late 1970s, Kenny Rogers was the headliner! The next year featured Ronnie Milsap and The Statler Brothers. But in recent years, just consider some of the big names in country music today who have graced the stage at the Chase County Fair— Old Dominion, Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town, Hunter Hayes, The Band Perry, Dierks Bentley, Chris Young, Trace Adkins and even Kenny Chesney (1998). And, there are so many more.
The fair is really one of Chase County’s big bragging rights. Talk about an economic development tool.
Thanks again, Chase County Fair Board, for all your work each year. They are close to announcing the fair’s Saturday night, Aug. 18, entertainer. It’ll be exciting to see who they come up with for another great weekend of entertainment.
