Perkins County reigns in SPVA Quiz Bowl contest

Chase County team earns sixth place spot

Perkins County owns the title as 2018 SPVA Conference Quiz Bowl champions earned at the contest held in Imperial last Thursday.
Chase County hosted this year’s contest conducted in several classrooms at the school. The seven SPVA schools take turns hosting the contest each year.
Perkins County finished with a 5-1 record during the day in the round robin tournament in which each team competed once against the other six.
Perkins County’s only loss was to Kimball, which placed second in team standings with a 4-2 record.
Chelsea Zuege, who coaches the Chase County team and coordinated the contest, said they had to take some time to determine third place as three teams were tied with 3-3 records.
That caused judges to look at the total team points earned, and North Platte St. Pat’s  with 210 points, came out on top, so placed third.
Rounding out the next four spots were Sutherland 3-3 in fourth place, Hershey 3-3 in fifth, Chase County 2-4 in sixth and Bridgeport 1-5 in seventh.
Chase County defeated teams from Sutherland and Bridgeport during the day, losing to Perkins County, Hershey, St. Pat’s and Kimball.
