Two CCS seniors selected for Nebraska All-State Honor Choir

Chase County Schools (CCS) seniors Noah Griffin and Ryelee Christensen were two of 1,883 singers from around the state to audition for the Nebraska All-State Choir. Only 440 of the best singers across the state were accepted into the elite chorus, said Randy Hayes, high school vocal music instructor at CCS.
The Nebraska Music Educators Association (NMEA) sponsors the All-State groups every year and the performing groups are combined with the annual NMEA Conference held in Lincoln.
During the annual conference, interest sessions are held daily for directors, and several invited groups perform concerts during the conference.
Hayes said the participants in the All-State groups auditioned in early October for their respective ensembles, and the announcement of selected singers was made the third week of October.
The categories of ensembles at All-State are orchestra, band, jazz band and chorus.
Rehearsals for the chorus began last Thursday evening and continued all day Friday.         The final performance was Saturday, at the Lied Center in Lincoln.
