Five CCS students perform in All-State Children’s Chorus

This year, 360 students were selected to participate in the 2017 All-State Children’s Chorus, sponsored by the Nebraska Music Education Association.
Among the 360 students selected were five Chase County Schools elementary students.
Jodie Liess, CCS elementary vocal instructor, announced that Beau Weiss, Malachi Christensen, Olivia Spady, Emma Keller and Anna Aragon-Bustillos were honored to be part of the children’s chorus.
Liess said the guest conductor for the group was Rollo A. Dilworth, Professor of Choral Music Education and Chair of the Department of Music Education and Therapy at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance in Philadelphia, Pa.
The chorus rehearsed last Thursday on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln campus, the host site of the 2017 NMEA Conference/Clinic.
The final public concert was held later that day, at the Lied Center for the Performing Arts on the UNL campus.
Liess added that she was given the opportunity to present a session Saturday morning at the NMEA conference on her use of assistive technology for students with special needs.
