Corn crop looking like a bin buster

All indications point to another record corn harvest, not only for this region, but for the state, as well. There’s still a ways to go before this year’s harvest is complete in southwest Nebraska, however. Statewide, harvest completion is pegged at 70 percent. The 30 percent remaining is in western Nebraska. Early yield reports signal this year’s harvest will indeed be a bin buster. Some farmers say they have experienced some of their best yields ever with reports from 250 to nearly 300 bushels per acre. It’s not uncommon to see the lights of combines, grain carts and trucks in corn fields into the night.
