Mark calenders for Red Cross Bloodmobile at CCS Monday

Chase County Schools is hosting the Red Cross Bloodmobile on Monday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Angie Paisley, CCS school nurse, said the bloodmobile will be set up in the new auxiliary gym.
There will be a reserved section in the student parking lot for donors to park. For convenience, they may enter directly into the gym from the doors on the northeast side of the school.
To make an appointment, contact Paisley at 308-882-4228 or register online at redcross blood.org and search for the school code: chasecohsne.
Potential donors can also download a free Red Cross Blood Donor app or call 1-800-RED CROSS (1-800-733-2767).
“I encourage donors to create an account online and complete a RapidPass which entails the individual’s health history. This RapidPass must be updated each time preceding a blood donation so medical  information is always up to date at time of donation,” Paisley  said.
Print off the RapidPass or save it to their phone, and bring it the day of donation. This will save them about 15 minutes when they are checking in, she said.
Paisley added that donors with any negative blood types or O positive blood can do power red donations, if they meet the height and weight requirements. This provides twice the amount of red blood cells and takes about 30 minutes longer. Power red donations can only be given every 112 days, up to three times a year. Whole blood can be donated every 56 days.
The Red Cross encourages donors to give blood approaching the holidays to ensure a sufficient supply for patients over the holidays and for the winter.
Paisley said their goal next week is 100 units.
