Volunteers for Imperial Theatre are encouraged to continue signing up

The Imperial Theatre is still an important source of entertainment for the community on the weekends. But without volunteers, it would not be possible. Volunteers are the lifeblood of the town’s  theatre, say city officials.
Facebook has been a new tool this year to not only list upcoming movies, but provide a status on the volunteer schedule.
Another tool that has been of great benefit to the theatre has been the use of a contact list using texting. This has improved the response from volunteers whenever the need arises.
Tami Ekart, theatre coordinator, asks that anyone who would like to add their name to the contact list so they can be notified by text when volunteers are needed, contact her at 308-882-4368.
The deadline for signing up as a volunteer is Thursday at 4:30 p.m. preceding the schedule for that weekend. If no volunteers are available on a night by the Thursday deadline, the movie won’t be shown, which leads to disappointment for moviegoers.
Ekart said that people in the community really appreciate the theatre volunteers. Without them, families and individuals would not be able to take advantage of the new movie releases and great theatre prices the theatre offers.
“Also, volunteers get free popcorn and pop when they work,” she added.
