Patricia Ann “Pat” Maucher was born Dec. 24, 1955, in Denver, Colo., to Kenneth E. and Evelyn J. (Reynolds) Maucher. As a young lady, she grew up and attended school in Mullen, Neb., graduating from Mullen High School in 1974.
Pat married David Howell in 1974, and to this union a son, Justin, was born. The couple resided in Mullen, Port Byron, Ill. and Wayne, before divorcing. Pat then moved with Justin, to Colorado. She gained employment on a dairy farm, and became a vision therapist in Denver.
She became reacquainted with a grade school sweetheart, Chris Fosdick, and the couple married at Sterling, Colo., in 1986. Pat and Chris were blessed with three children: Tyler, Tricia and Torie.
Pat loved being a wife and mother. She suffered a great loss in 1996 when son Justin died and because of this heart break she and Chris divorced.
Pat remained in Sterling, where she enjoyed working at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church and the Sterling Chamber of Commerce.
In 2011, she returned to Mullen, where she renewed old friendships, enjoyed writing and became an avid reader while working at Dick Macke’s Grocery. Pat was lovingly dedicated to her children and adored her grandchildren.
Pat passed away Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2017, surrounded by family at the University of Colorado Medical Center in Aurora, Colo. She was 61 years of age. Pat was free spirited and described her life best in her own words:
“….the way I see it….one of these days the old Trail Boss is gonna call our numbers….some sooner than others….and when He does….we are each gonna be asked….“What did you do with this gift of life I gave you?”….I want to honestly and truly answer…. “I lived it….I loved each moment….each triumph….each heartbreak….the wind in my hair….I smiled….sometimes through tears….I reached out to lives and hopefully touched them….and through it all I knew one day I’d be standing here….safe in Your love.”….sooooooo I’m determined to live life as it deserves to be….and that being said….don’t you worry about me….enjoy the wind in your hair….just sayin….”
