Cancer walk to kick off hospital’s wellness festival

Saturday, Sept. 30, has been designated as the morning- long Wellness Festival and health fair, sponsored by Chase County Community Hospital.
The day will begin at 7:45 a.m. with registration for the cancer walk at the Chase County Schools’ football field.          There will be a speaker and prayer beginning at 8 a.m. with the cancer walk starting  at 8:30 a.m. on the track.
Anyone can sign up ahead of time for the walk. But registrations must be turned in by Sept. 8 in order to have a T-shirt in time for the walk.
Pinwheels will be sold at a cost of $5 each as a memorial honoring someone lost to cancer or currently battling cancer. All donations will be going toward expenses for patients battling any type of cancer.
Health fair lab draws will be done in Imperial at Chase County Hospital on Sept. 19, 20 and 21 between the hours of 6:30 a.m. and 10 a.m.
Residents can also have labs drawn on Sept. 26 at the Wauneta clinic.
The results of all labs can be picked up at the Wellness Festival in Imperial on Sept. 30.
Festivities for the health fair will be held on the west side of the football field in the parking area.
There will be booths set up with information and screenings for blood pressures, hearing, vision, EKG’s and a dietitian will be on hand. There will also be medical providers, insurance representatives and various types of therapy information booths available to answer questions. EMS will be represented at the Wellness Festival for those wanting information about that possible aspect of medical assistance.
Flu shots will be given during the Wellness Festival at the 4-H exhibition building on the fairgrounds from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. A drive-through service will be provided for those with difficulty walking.
Everyone who participates in the Wellness Festival, beginning with the cancer walk and continuing with the health fair booths and flu shots, will get their name entered into a drawing for free helicopter rides during the health fair festivities.
