Another year, another Hendricks Cattle Co. win at Ranch Rodeo

As thunderstorms held off moving into the area, Hendricks Cattle Company once more held off all competition at the Chase County Fair’s Ranch Rodeo Aug. 15.
Though the team members have varied slightly over the years, the team’s spot in the winner’s circle has not changed since its first win in 2013.
Team members this year were Taylor Hendricks, Cecil Pankonin, Darrin Sellers and Greg Eschellman.
Hendricks Cattle Company finished first in the opening event, which involved penning, roping and doctoring then loading.
The Golden Boys—Tim Krab, Trey White, Jared Eakins and Corey Turner—won the second event, roping two steers and tying them down.
Barbed S Cattle Company, comprised of Alesa Jones, Travis Stevenson, Cooper Stevenson and Buck Marsh, came in third in both events and third overall.
After tallying the scores, Hendricks came out on top with Ogallala’s The Golden Boys in second place.
After the first event of the Ranch Rodeo, the first 10 of 20 Ranch Bronc riders started their competition. The 10 were followed by the Nickel Scramble, then the remaining bronc riders.
Western States Ranch Rodeo Association 2015 and 2016 World Champion Justin Quint won the Ranch Bronc competition with a ride of 78 points. Second was Wes Rosengreen and Andy Sherfey finished in third.
At the completion of the bronc riding, the second event of the Ranch Rodeo began.
