Betty Regier

Betty Ann Peters was born at home in rural Hampton, Neb. to Elisabeth (Friesen) and John Peters on Oct. 9, 1933.
 She was the second of five children and was baptized and became a member of Bethesda Mennonite Church on May 13, 1951
Betty attended District 15 in Hamilton County through eighth grade and graduated from Hampton High School in 1951.
She met Frederick Regier during youth gatherings at church and they were united in marriage on Jan. 2, 1953. They then moved to Topeka, Kan., where Fred completed his W-1 service at the Topeka State Health Hospital.
After service, they moved to the Klaus Buller farm near Lushton.
To this union two children were born, Sheila Terese and Monty Scott.
Betty is remembered by her husband as “the best wife a man could have.” She became a dedicated housewife and enjoyed gardening, especially pink flowers, keeping an immaculate home and lived by the quote “the essence of life is in the details.”
Betty is survived by her husband Fred Regier of Henderson; daughter Sheila (Janzen) Huebert and Eugene Goering of Columbus; son Monty (Marcia) Regier of Henderson, Neb.; sister-in-law Phyllis Peters of Hampton; sisters Ardith Epp of Henderson, Carrie (Elroy) Bergen of Henderson and Cora Kay Friesen of Aurora; sisters-in-law Ardena Regier of Ogallala, Maxine Regier of Bradshaw, Patricia Regier of Henderson and Margaret (Don) Huebert of Henderson.
Betty’s grandchildren were her pride and joy and include Erin Huebert (Euripides Solis) of Superior, Colo., Ian Huebert (Candida Pagan) of Iowa City, Iowa, Myles Regier (Elizabeth Dam-Regier) of Winston-Salem, N.C., Madalyn (Joseph) Johnson of Omaha; and three great-grandchildren, Camila, Lucia and Marshall, with two more expected later this year.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Kermit Peters; brothers-in-law Pete Regier, David Regier, Jr. and Levi Regier; and sons-in-law Melvin Janzen and Kevin Huebert.
Graveside services were held at 1:15 p.m., Saturday, July 1 at the Mennonite Cemetery. Memorial services followed at 2 p.m. at the Bethesda Mennonite Church Fellowship Hall. Visitation was held on Friday, June 30 at Metz Mortuary in Henderson.
