Pee Wee One finishes regular season with pair of wins

Imperial’s Pee Wee One team concluded its regular season last week with wins over Grant and Hershland.
The pair of wins capped a 9-1 season for Imperial One, who entered this week’s league tournament as the top seed.
Coach Jeff Lempke noted there was a three-way tie for the top seed. Ogallala I and Wallace also finished the regular season at 9-1, so a flip of the coin determined the seedings.
Imperial One was to face eighth-seed Imperial Two in the opener Wednesday this week. See the bracket on page 10 for more information.
Here’s a recap of last week’s two games.
Grant game
A six-run lead in the first inning was just enough for  Imperial 1 to hold off Grant for a 12-11 victory Friday.
Grant scored 11 runs in the failed comeback as they walked five times, tallied a few hits and took advantage of Imperial errors to threaten.
Imperial 1 took an early lead in the first inning after Ryan Bernhardt drove in two runs one a single.
Emmitt Zuege earned the win for  Imperial on the mound. He threw four and a third innings, surrendering three runs, three hits, striking out three and walking one.          Tysen Lempke started the game for Imperial on the mound for one and one-third innings, giving up three runs, no hits and striking out two.
Imperial tallied eight hits in the game. Tysen Lempke and Jaret Peterson each collected multiple hits, while Bernhardt led  in RBIs with three
Imperial base runners stole 16 bases, led by Tysen Lempke with four.
