Donna Bartels

Donna Maye Kunnemann Bartels was born Jan. 15, 1940, in Imperial, Neb., to Clarence J. and Maye P. (Weiss) Kunnemann. Donna graduated from Chase County High School in 1957 and then went on to attend the Lincoln School of Commerce, graduating in 1960.
On July 29, 1962, Donna married Wayne LeRoy Bartels at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Imperial. Donna and Wayne first settled in Imperial and later moved to a farm on the South Divide.
Donna was an Avon representative for 45-plus years. She also was employed at the ASCS Office, Country at Heart Store and the Imperial Inn. Donna was a member of the Crazy Quilters and the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She enjoyed crafts, quilting, cooking and gardening.
Donna passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2017, at the Southlake Village Care Center in Lincoln. She was 77 years of age.
Donna was preceded in death by her parents and son, Carl.
Survivors include husband Wayne of Enders; daughter Carla (Greg) McKinney of Lincoln; four grandchildren: Mike McKinney, Emily and Jose Zarate, Sarah McKinney and Larissa Tomlinson; and brother Paul (Lorna) Kunnemann of Imperial.
Funeral services for Donna were held Tuesday morning, June 27 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, rural Wauneta, with Pastor Keith Wellman officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Wauneta.
Visitation was held June 26, 2 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home in Imperial.
A memorial has been established in Donna’s memory.
