Where’s the civility gone?

Frankly, I think social media bears a big share of the blame for the loss of civility in today’s discourse.

Where has all the civility gone? That’s a question I keep asking myself almost every day as I hear of and see examples  of the lack of respect some people have for others when viewpoints differ.
I wonder if some people even know what civility is so I looked it up in the dictionary (yes, they still exist, both in hard copy and online).Civility is defined as “formal politeness and courtesy in behavior or speech.”
All one has to do today to see the lack of civility is to turn on the TV to CNN, MSNBC or Fox News. Every day you get to see how someone with a differing point of view gets treated.
The world of politics has gone crazy and liberals and conservatives can’t seem to agree on anything as each tries to shout down the other.
Gone are the days when people sat down and had honest, vibrant discussions that addressed the issues, not personalities.
Frankly, I think social media bears a big share of the blame for the loss of civility in today’s discourse.
