NWTF Kids Event both educational, fun

Chase County’s National Wild Turkey Federation (NWTF) chapter, the Western Plains Longbeards, re-scheduled Kids Event was a success.
The good weather Saturday and various games and educational presentations/activities created a day filled with family fun.
The Nebraska Game and Parks attended with a kayak, archery and wildlife station for all to enjoy.
“The timing and location was perfect. Hopefully we can add in more stations next year,” said Ayla Smith, president of the Western Plains Longbeards chapter.
Trying to rebuild the NWTF chapter in the area, Smith believes that by hosting more events and showing the surrounding communities that their donations are going back into the local area will help build excitement and future members.
The NWTF has made an investment of $488 million in wildlife conservation and the preservation of North America’s hunting heritage.
Ninety cents out of every dollar raised at Kids Event will go back into re-introducing turkey in different areas, organizing/hosting large jake (5-17 year olds) hunting events, wounded warrior and veterans events.
There were various prizes raffled Saturday including a Mossy Oak knife set for the Dad’s Day Drawing that was won by Donald Bristol of North Platte. Bill Brophy of Imperial won a gun package that consisted of  a shotgun, binoculars and a bone saw.
