Pee Wee 1 finishes 2-1 in week of games

    In a busy week of games, Imperial’s Pee Wee 1 baseball team collected wins from Ogallala and Imperial 2, and dropped a contest to McCook.
    In action on the home field May 31, the two Imperial teams met, with Imperial 1 taking the 26-6 win.
    Coach Jeff Lempke said his team’s bats came alive in the game as they recorded 18 hits, including four homeruns, against the younger Imperial team.
    Hitting over-the-fence homers were Keenan Cole and Ryan Bernhardt. Tysen Lempke and Jaret Peterson had in-the-park homeruns. RBI leaders were Bernhardt, Cole and Morgan Peterson, each driving in four.
    Camron Lempke earned the win, throwing three innings, striking out two and giving up three runs on three hits.
    Juan Ruiz started on the mound for Imperial, striking out one and allowing three runs on two hits.
Ogallala game
    Imperial 1 jumped out to an early lead and went on to take a 12-2 victory over Ogallala 3 at a game in Imperial Friday night.
    Imperial’s big inning came in the third when they scored five runs.
    Emmitt Zuege led the offense for Imperial, going 2-2 at the plate and driving in two runs.
    Imperial was errorless on the field.
