Kenneth E. Hofman

Kenneth Hofman was born on June 8, 1942, in Imperial, Neb., to Walter and Elsie (Gruber) Hofman as their first child.
He attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln where he graduated with a degree in accounting.
While at UNL, he married his first wife, Ruth Obermier, at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Waco in 1964.
They served as caretakers for the University Lutheran Chapel.
After graduating from UNL, Kenneth served as an officer in the US Air Force in Texas, South Dakota and Nebraska. After separating from the Air Force, Ken worked in the finance department for the city of Omaha from 1971 to 2005.
Ken, Ruth and their family settled in Omaha and attended St. Paul Lutheran Church where he was a Sunday school teacher, elder and boys’ softball team coach.
He and Ruth also served as high school youth group leaders and led several Bible studies. They had four children. Ruth passed away in December 1992.
On March 27, 2004, he married a sweet and caring woman named Sharon Wells at Thanksgiving Lutheran Curch in Bellevue.
They attended Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, served together in Stephens Ministry and led a home Bible study.
Ken was a kind and generous man with a contagious smile, who was devoted to his family and his Savior, Jesus Christ. Ken enjoyed reading, walking and spending time with family.
He shared the love of Christ with everyone he met and tried to point them to Jesus.
Ken passed away into the arms of Jesus on Saturday morning, May 6, 2017 in his home. He was 74 years of age.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Walter (2009) and Elsie (2015) and his son Brad (2008).
Ken is survived by wife Sharon; children Wesley (Renee) Wells of Columbus, Ohio, Warren (Kellie) Wells of Omaha, Lance (Flo) Hofman of Ft. Walton Beach, Fla., Lisa (Daren) Clark of Omaha and Eric  (Wendy) Hofman of Gabon, Africa.
He is also survived by grandchildren Colin, Ben, Andrew, Joshua, Gavin, Malachi, Brody, Esther, Eli and Hannah; brothers Glenn (Carol) Hofman, Don (Amy) Hofman and Stan Hofman; and many nieces and nephews.
Memorials have been established for Thanksgiving Lutheran Church, Autism Society of America and The Christian and Missionary Alliance.
Interment will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery Omaha.
