Three bids being considered as potential lunch providers at CCS

    A major change in how breakfast and lunch are provided at Chase County Schools (CCS) may be decided early next month.
    That’s when board members will consider three proposals from companies that are bidding for the chance to provide the daily breakfast and lunch programs at CCS, starting in the 2017-18 school year.
    According to Supt. Joey Lefdal, three bids were submitted by contract food service companies including CBM of Sioux Falls, So. Dak., Lunchtime Solutions of Dakota Dunes, So. Dak., and Taher, Inc. of Pawnee City, Neb.
    Ahead of the May 9 meeting, Lefdal, along with Principals Chad Scheel and Becky Odens and two board members will review the multi-paged proposals, scoring each bid package on a number of criteria, he said.
    Cost of meals will be the main determining factor in a point system to be used as each proposal is ranked. That is just one aspect, however, the committee will be looking at in their review.
    Other criteria in the point system ranking include service, experience, innovation, personnel management and more.
    Lefdal said the proposals will be more fully discussed at the May 9 meeting.
