Irma Arlene (Graves) Brill was born Dec. 30, 1927, in Hamlet, Neb., to Frederick “Jack” and Gladys (Hopper) Graves. As a young lady, Arlene grew up and attended grade school in Hamlet and later she moved to Imperial and attended Chase County High School.
On Dec. 31, 1944, Arlene married Robert Eugene Brill in St. Francis, Kan., and to this union two children were born: Wayne and Charlene. The couple made their home in Imperial for several years before moving to Lincoln and North Platte. In 1974 Arlene and Bob retired in Imperial.
Arlene was employed at Chase County Community Hospital as a cook and also worked at several different restaurants in Imperial. She was later employed by Dr. Shopp until his retirement. Arlene enjoyed cooking, embroidering and sewing. Arlene was the past president of the VFW Auxiliary Post #4688 of Imperial, where she and Bob conducted Saturday night Bingo for 19 years.
Arlene passed away Saturday evening, April 22, 2017, at the Chase County Community Hospital, Imperial. She was 89 years of age.
Survivors include son Wayne (Phyllis) Brill of Omaha; daughter Charlene Bush of North Platte; six grandchildren: Robert (Beth) Bush, James (Rachel) Bush, Melissa (Anthony) Kapustka, Greg (Lucy) Brill, Doug (Beverly) Brill and Danielle Brill; eight great-grandchildren: Molly Brill, Corey Brill, Kinsey Bush, Kayla Bush, Kamden Bush, Austin Bush, Charles Bush and Tatum Kapustka; and sister Verda Spitz of Colorado Springs, Colo.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert Brill, sister Billie Vae Taylor, son-in-law Warren Bush and granddaughter KaitLyn Joslin.
Memorial services will be held Friday, April 28, 2017, 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church of Imperial with Pastor Dirk Weiss and Rev. Melody Newman officiating. Inurnment will follow at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial.
No visitation, Arlene chose cremation.
A memorial has been established to Andrew Kinder Post # 4688 VFW Auxiliary, Imperial, Neb.
