Girls set more records at Hershey meet

    Another record-breaking day came Saturday for the Lady Longhorns as they set new records in three events en route to their fifth meet championship of the season.
    At the Hershey meet, new records were set by Chase County in the 800, 1600 relay and 3200 relay.
    “It was a big day for us,” said Coach Troy Hauxwell.
    Mallie McNair and Destiny Reinke, who took first and second in the 800, both bypassed the meet record. As the event winner, McNair’s 2:21.14 finish will go down in the record books.
    Reinke’s second place 2:22.21 also broke the 2008 meet record of 2:25.10 held by Mullen’s Hannah Connealy.
    McNair’s and Reinke’s times are closing in on the Chase County school record, as well, held by Michelle (Dill) May at 2:21 flat.
    Chase County’s 400, 1600 and 3200 meter relays all won gold, with the 1600 and 3200 breaking meet records.
    The 1600 relay team of Kadyn Milner, Sophie Spady, Taylor Williams and M. McNair won easily with a new meet record time of 4:15.49. That broke the 2008 meet record also held by a Chase Co. team of 4:18.0.
    The 3200 relay team of Milner, Madison Brown, Spady and Reinke also bypassed the meet record from 2014, also held by a Chase Co. team, of 10:18.0. Their names will go up on the meet record board with a time of 10:13.93.
    In all, the Lady Longhorns took first place in 10 events and tied for first in another.
    Allison Owings had a double gold day, winning both the shot and discus.
