Two science teachers hired for 2017-18 year

Four resignations also accepted at meeting Tuesday night

Two teachers were hired, and four resignations accepted, at a busy Chase County Schools board of education meeting Tuesday night.
Chase County graduate Elisha (Carman) Hinojosa of Enders was hired for the high school science position replacing Larry Munger, who will retire at the end of this school year.
Brule native Jennifer Leigh Gonzales, now of Fredericksburg, Virg., was hired as a middle school science teacher. She fills a void created by Neal Dodge, now a 7-8 science teacher, who will be moved to teach the alternative ed program in 2017-18.
Third grade teacher Diane Baluska submitted her resignation, effective the end of this school year. She has accepted a position in Chappell to be closer to family, according to Supt. Joey Lefdal.
As expected, the CCS board received a formal resignation from Sonja Burpo, who is moving with her family to Colorado. She is the schools’ K-12 media specialist in the library.
Both Burpo and Baluska thanked the administration and board for the opportunity to work with CCS students.
Also resigning as director for the schools’ one-act play and spring play productions was Jill Bauerle. She has directed both plays for eight years.
Also resigning after 30 years as a school bus drive was Lynn Denbo.
