Berniece Redden

Berniece Redden, age 84, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in McCook, Neb.
Berniece was born in Cheyenne County, Kan., on March 27, 1932 to Jacob and Rosie (Hofer) Straub. She was one of eleven children.
Growing up, Berniece greatly enjoyed learning and going to school.  Though she didn’t get the chance to finish high school, she took classes and was glad to complete a GED and receive her diploma many years later.
Berniece gave her life to God in 1959, and continued true and faithful to the end.
On Jan. 1, 1952 she married Pat Redden in Benkelman, Neb.  To this union seven children were born.  She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.  
Through the years, Berniece worked faithfully alongside Pat doing whatever needed done whether ranching in the sandhills or on the farm north of Palisade, Neb.  She cared for her sheep, drove the school bus for the Palisade Schools for nineteen years, helped deliver Meals on Wheels, worked in home health and at El Dorado Manor in Trenton.  In her free time, Berniece enjoyed gardening, flowers and always had meals on the table for her family.  
Berniece is survived by Pat, her husband of 65 years, of Palisade; daughters Lois (Tom) Miller of Verdon, Neb., Linda  (Gordon) Bush of Riverton, Neb., Lola (Delbert) Beyer of Sioux Center, Iowa, Lorene  (Steve) Lanus of Algona, Iowa, Leota (Mike) Schutte of Seward, Neb., and Laura (Ken) Heisler of Humboldt, Kan.; brother Harry (Nola) Straub  of Wauneta, Neb.; sisters Elsie Cook of St. Francis, Kan., Irene Garner of Clovis, N. M,, and Luella Smith of Whitney, Neb.; 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; infant son Larry DeWayne; three brothers, Fredrick (in infancy), Oscar Straub and Paul Straub; three sisters, Pauline (in infancy), Ida Tucker and Lucille Tucker.
Visitation was Sunday, March 26 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home, 305 West C Street, McCook, NE.
Funeral services were held on Monday, March 27, 2017 at Carpenter Breland Funeral Home with LeRoy Sandford and Stanley Morrison officiating. Burial followed in the Haigler Cemetery, Haigler, Neb.
