Late Emma Colson among featured centenarians in newly-released video

    The late Emma Colson is among a number of centenarians prominently featured in a new video by renowned photographer and Nebraska native Bill Frakes.
    The 20-minute video, entitled “Nebraska’s Centenarians,” was released Wednesday this week to recognize Nebraska’s 150th birthday.
    The video appears on Frakes’ Nebraska Project website, www.nebraskaproject.com.
    “As Nebraska celebrates 150 years of statehood, we want to honor the people in this video who have lived through two thirds of that time,” Frakes said in a release this week.
    He noted these people have witnessed everything from electricity in homes to television to the smart phone and the internet.
    Frakes said that while things have changed around them, one thing hasn’t changed—their love of Nebraska.
    The video celebrates the Nebraska spirit and ties in directly with Nebraska’s sesquicentennial celebration, which officially kicked off on Statehood Day March 1.
    Colson passed away Aug. 25, 2016 at the age of 108. Frakes was in Imperial in October 2015 to interview her on video for the project.
    In a Facebook post about the project, Frakes had this to say about Nebraska:
    “Nebraskans are open and friendly, always willing to extend a helping hand. They draw their power from the land. The land is open, rugged and beautiful. So are the people.”
