Hauxwell serving on NSAA track and field committee

Chase County Troy Hauxwell is one of four track coaches in the state serving on the 2017 NSAA track and field committee.
Hauxwell, the school’s athletic director and girls’ track coach, is joined by Leigh Officer, girls track coach at Bellevue West; Nancy Lockmon, head track coach at Giltner; and Don Perry, head track coach at York.
After an invitation to join the committee, Hauxwell accepted, noting he wanted to see western Nebraska represented.
The committee includes two Nebraska School Activities Association assistant directors, two track referees and the Omaha Schools meet director.
The first meeting of the committee took place in Lincoln Feb. 1. Hauxwell said they’ll meet several times throughout the year, including before the state track meet.
Hauxwell said the committee reviewed the activities of the 2016 state meet. Planning is well underway for the 2017 meet.
One of the changes made last year was the use of portable runways for the pole vault competition.
This allowed meet officials to move the vault into the infield away from the other jump pits.
