Suspect charged in Palisade shooting investigation

    A McCook man has been charged with several felony counts following an investigation into a December 2020 shooting in Palisade.
    The charges were filed Monday in Hayes County Court following an investigation by the Nebraska State Patrol.
    The investigation began after a shooting was reported Dec. 18 at 308 No. Osborn in Palisade. The Hayes County Sheriff’s Office and Hitchcock County Sheriff’s Office both responded to the scene, and requested that the Nebraska State Patrol conduct the investigation.
    Following the investigation, NSP investigators filed an arrest affidavit in Hayes County Court for Benjamin Farr, 36, of McCook, for second degree assault, use of deadly weapon to commit a felony, possession of a deadly weapon by a prohibited person and unlawful discharge of a firearm.
    The December shooting victim was transported to Great Plains Health in North Platte and survived, the State Patrol reported.
    Farr is being held in the Red Willow County Jail in McCook on the charges above with a $50,000 bond/10%. He was already in jail there on other unrelated charges, according to the State Patrol release.
    During the investigation, investigators recovered three firearms that are believed to be stolen.
