Imperial native loses home in California fire

    The fires in California can feel a little more real to Imperial residents.
    Imperial native Gabe Lenners lives in Malibu, California, in the middle of the Woolsey fire.
    “I am fine. I had notice,” Lenners said.
    However, there is nothing left now of the house he was renting.
    Last Friday, Lenners was evacuated to Pepperdine University, about 20 miles away.
    “I obviously couldn’t take everything,” he said of the 2 a.m. evacuation, “but I was able to take the important things.”
    That included some artwork by his dad, Dan Lenners of Imperial.
