A Denver, Colorado woman remained in the Chase County Jail on Monday after her arrest last week on a Colorado warrant.
Chase Co. Sheriff Kevin Mueller said his office was contacted July 26 about 4 p.m. after Game and Parks Officer Sophia Gobber was alerted of a barely-clothed woman at Enders Lake.
Two deputies were dispatched to the lake, where they located Jade E. Tharp, 31, of Denver, who appeared to be “high on some type of substance,” according to the report.
When deputies ran her name, they discovered Colorado warrants had been issued for Tharp on two assault and strangulation charges, so she was taken into custody.
Mueller said they were unable to house her in the Chase County Jail due to her condition, so made contact with officials at the Lincoln County Jail in North Platte. Officials there refused to take her until there was a medical clearance on her given.
Deputies transported her to Chase County Community Hospital, where she was given the medical clearance, he said. Officers then transported her to North Platte.
On Friday, personnel from the sheriff’s office returned to North Platte. Tharp was taken to Ogallala, where she appeared before a judge and waived her extradition hearing. She was then brought back to jail in Imperial.
Mueller said Monday they will continue to house her in the Chase County Jail until she’s picked up by Colorado authorities.
