Two area road projects will continue through summer

A pair of state roads projects will continue through the summer months, both slowing traffic as motorists travel south and east of Imperial.
Work began April 17 on a three-and-a-half mile project from the Highway 6-61 junction just south of Enders Lake, said Taylor Wendt, project manager with the Department of Transportation.
The Enders South project includes bridge work, grading, asphalt milling and overlay, as well as earth shoulder construction and seeding. The work includes the Enders Dam bridge.
Preliminary work is underway now, and Wendt said paving will start on Monday. A 10-foot width restriction will be in effect.
Paulsen, Inc. of Cozad is the contractor for this project. The work is expected to wrap up in July.
On Monday this week, a 6.5 mile DOT project started on Highway 6 east of Palisade that will continue to the Highway 25 intersection.
Paulsen, Inc. is also the contractor for this project. Work includes bridge work, grading, asphalt milling and overlay, earth shoulder construction and seeding.
A 12-foot width restriction will be in effect for the Palisade project. Anticipated completion is this fall.
For both projects, Wendt said traffic will be maintained with a pilot car and flaggers. Temporary traffic signals will be used for the bridge work.
