All proceeds from a soup and pie supper Friday night will go to the Leibhart family to help with medical costs associated with son Brock’s accident.
Being organized by employees in the city office, the benefit will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Imperial Berean Church.
Brock, 16, and a Chase County Schools sophomore, was injured during the early morning hours Feb. 7 when his pickup rolled in an accident, south of Enders Lake on Highway 61.
After initial treatment in Imperial, he was flown to Swedish Medical Center in Englewood, Colorado.
He is now recovering at Craig Hospital in Englewood.
According to information on the city’s Facebook page, Brock sustained five broken ribs, a brain bleed, contusions to his liver, spleen, kidneys and lungs, two broken thoracic vertebrae and a spinal cord injury. He has undergone surgery to stabilize his spine, and is now undergoing intensive therapy.
City Clerk/Administrator Jo Leyland said the office staff is organizing Friday’s benefit since Brock’s dad, Dan, is a long-time city employee in the public works department.
Chili, chicken noodle and cheese soups will be served, with a variety of pies.
Free will donations will be taken at the door.
An account has also been set up at Adams Bank & Trust for donations.
