Semi totaled in fire late Sunday; IVFD responds to another CO call

A semi-trailer parked at the T-Junction lot Sunday night was totaled after a suspected electrical fire in the engine.
IVFD Second Asst. Chief Kelsey Weiss said the semi was fully involved when the fire department  arrived on the scene. The fire had initially been contained to the engine but had moved into the cab, he said.
Firefighters applied water to the blaze, but he believes the truck was a total loss. An empty grain trailer was attached.
Weiss said the driver indicated he had started the truck about an hour earlier and had gone out to shut it off for the night, only to find it in flames where it was parked, east of the fuel pumps.
The name of the driver and make/model of the semi were unavailable.
About four hours later Sunday, firefighters were called again at 10:47 p.m. to an Imperial home reporting a carbon monoxide alarm.
Fire Chief Doug Mitchell said Barbara Hogsett reported the alarm at her home at 560 Kramer. After arriving on scene, he said they quickly figured out there was a faulty sensor on her CO detector.
Weiss said she told them the alarm had gone off, so she changed the batteries, but the alarm still sounded, prompting her to call 911.
The IVFD with CO monitors checked out the house and it was clear later, Weiss said.
