Semi loaded with cattle, car collide east of Imperial

A cattle-filled semi-trailer and a 2002 Chrysler sedan collided about five miles east of Imperial last week near the Imperial Valley Holiness Camp.
Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said the 7:30 p.m. accident July 26 on Highway 6 resulted in no major injuries although a passenger from the car was transported by Imperial EMS to Chase County Community Hospital.
Ramon Bueno from Imperial was driving the sedan when, apparently, he had slowed to turn or allow the semi behind him to pass, Sheriff Mueller said.
Jeremy Ferguson of Charter Oak, Iowa was driving the 1998 Peterbilt semi, also eastbound.
Mueller said he tried to brake but struck the car in the rear, forcing the car into the ditch.
Ferguson had just loaded the cattle in Imperial a short time earlier.
There were minor injuries to the female passenger, who was not named, and she was transported to the hospital, treated and released. There was a third passenger in the sedan, the sheriff said, who was uninjured.
Mueller said the car was totaled and there was no damage to the semi.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
