Pickup totaled in rural accident Tuesday

Chase County Dispatch received a 911 call Tuesday close to 1 p.m. reporting a single vehicle accident on 734 Road and State Spur 15A.
Sheriff’s Deputy Rob Browning, along with the Imperial Volunteer Fire Department and Imperial EMS were sent to the scene.
Deputy Browning made initial contact with the driver, Victoria Martinez, 16, of Holyoke, Colorado. Two other occupants were in the pickup with her. One passenger, Raul Gudino-Villeda, was transported to the Chase County Community Hospital for head pain. He was treated and released.
No information was available on the other male passenger, who was uninjured, according to the report.
Sheriff Kevin Mueller said the initial investigation determined Martinez was driving east on 734 Road, just south of the town of Champion. The right side tires dropped from the roadway onto the shoulder and she over-corrected, causing the vehicle to spin on the road and enter the north ditch.
The driver was issued a citation for no operator’s license, Mueller said.
The vehicle, a 2004 Chevy pickup, was considered a total loss, Sheriff Mueller said. It was removed from the scene by private party.
