Perkins Co. board sells nursing home licenses to new LLC

On July 1, the sale of the 50 nursing bed licenses from Perkins County Health Services to the new LLC, Our Golden Hours, was finalized.
A resolution and sale and transfer agreement for the beds were signed by the PCHS board of directors at a special meeting June 27 All five board members favored the move that sold the licenses to the LLC for $1 per bed, or $50.
According to Our Golden Hours LLC board member Mark Bottom, this was a huge move in the LLC’s efforts to continue elder care in the county.
“Those licenses would have been gone for good in Perkins County, blinked out of existence,” Bottom said. “They now will remain valid and usable.”
Land for new facility
Land was another topic discussed at the meeting. It is the hope of the LLC to utilize ground owned by PCHS to the north of its current campus known as the Fredericks ground.
The PCHS board indicated they were willing to take a look at the possibility of selling a portion of the Federicks ground to the LLC, but the board wants to know exactly how much of the ground the LLC will need.
The LLC is currently working with their contractor, Ayars and Ayars from Lincoln, to draw up site plans for the proposed new facility. The LLC has a prospective open date set for spring 2024.
Financial assistance
The other topic discussed Monday was possible financial assistance that may come from PCHS.
PCHS board members indicated that any financial assistance that could or would come from PCHS would most likely come through the PCHS Foundation. The LLC members were scheduled to meet with the PCHS Foundation last week to discuss the options.
Next steps
It was not anticipated that the board would meet again to act upon the potential sale of the Frederick land until its regular meeting on July 18, according to CEO Neil Hilton. However, this could change, depending on a change in circumstances, he said.
As for the LLC, Bottom said members are working to establish a 501c3 non-profit status, and continue to work with potential donors and supporters. The LLC is being advised by Tim Groshans of Senior Insight LLC.
Members of the LLC include Bottom, Steve and Chris Loeffler and Genie Bishop.
