No leads yet on stolen Imperial pickup

    Law enforcement is hoping some leads turn up or someone has camera video that will help recover a stolen pickup from Imperial a week and a half ago.
    Police Chief Ryan Wisnieski said someone clearly knew what they were doing when stealing the white 2006 GMC 2500 diesel pickup owned by Wade Courter.
    The pickup was taken from behind Courter’s home at 10th and Court Streets sometime between Saturday night, Feb. 11, and Monday, Feb. 13.
    From where it was parked, the pickup was not visible from the house, Wisnieski said. It was locked without keys inside, he said.
    “They didn’t realize it was missing” right away, he said.
    As of Tuesday this week, the pickup has not been recovered, Wisnieski said. After the theft was reported, it was put on the national system for stolen vehicles.
    It’s uncertain whether the pickup was hot-wired or loaded onto a trailer when it was taken, he added.
    “This theft doesn’t fit the others stolen in this area” recently, Wisnieski said, when vehicles were stolen as they were left running or with keys inside. In another theft, it appeared the vehicle was taken for the tools it was carrying.
    “This one looks like it was stolen because it’s a nicer vehicle,” he said.
