Nancy Sorensen has accepted a middle school teaching position at Wauneta-Palisade Schools for the 2023-24 school year.
A former teacher at Chase County Schools and most recently Perkins County’s Elementary Principal, she resigned from the PCS position at last week’s school board meeting.
The 2022-23 school year marks her third year as pre K-6 principal. She and husband Mike had moved to Wauneta last summer, where he had taken a job at WP as 6-12 principal, Activities Director, Transportation Director and head boys’ basketball coach. He passed away in early August before the 2022-23 school year had started.
In her letter of resignation, Sorensen thanked her fellow administrators for their mentorship.
With Sorensen’s resignation, PCS is now looking to replace both its principals after High School Principal Ben Jones resigned last month.
At the PCS board meeting last week, Mark Jolliffe, currently the Wichita High School principal in Wichita, Kansas, was hired as superintendent to replace Supt. Philip Picquet, who resigned earlier this year.
Picquet has been hired administrator at ESU #15 in Trenton to replace Paul Calvert, who is retiring.
