Motorcycles gleam in hot fair afternoon

Twenty shiny bikes were on display on the fairgrounds’ midway Saturday on one of the final days of the Chase County Fair.
People walking the midway stopped to view the row of bikes, despite the heat, and had the opportunity to vote for the People’s Choice winner.
That honor went to Dwight Coleman of Imperial with his 2019 Indian Vintage Chief, quite the eye-catcher in its sky blue over pearl metallic color with leather seats and saddlebags.
The annual fair motorcycle show was a project of ABATE District 12. Brent Bussell of Imperial coordinated this year’s event.
After three hours on display, the winners in each division were announced as follows:
Best mini—Darwin Warning, Benkelman, 1971 Indian mini.
Best pre-1970—Jerry Groff, Imperial, 1957 Cushman Pacemaker.
Best trike—Dave Irey, Imperial, 2019 Harley Freewheeler.
    Best metric—Louis Hoak, Stratton, 2017 BMW S-1000RR.
Best domestic—Brad Dinnel, Wauneta, 2010 Harley Ultra Limited.
People’s Choice—Dwight Coleman, Imperial, 2019 Indian Vintage Chief.
Most miles traveled—Thomas Allen,Trenton, who drove to the show from Kearney, 165 miles.
