More than 200 expected at Saturday’s CCHS alumni banquet

Chase County High School classes ending in “3” will be recognized Saturday at the annual alumni banquet in Imperial.
The banquet and program begin at 6 p.m. at the Nutrien Event Center on the Chase County Fairgrounds, but there are other activities and photos planned earlier in the day.
Alumni Association President Marlon Kunnemann will emcee the banquet program.
He said this week they are planning for upwards of 225 alumni and guests to attend.
Kunnemann’s Class of 1978 will be noting its 45th reunion along with the honored classes and he’s looking forward to seeing alumni from all of the classes this weekend.
“We as the alumni committee are always happy to see everyone back,” he said.
“I always enjoy seeing people from the other Chase County High School classes,” he said.
The alumni association board and class directors began meeting in January to plan the Memorial Day weekend reunion banquet and related activities.
Events Saturday begin at 3 p.m. with a bus tour of the community. Shawn Jaeger, the hospital’s Foundation and Marketing Coordinator, will lead the tour to sites around Imperial.
Honor class photos (ending in “3”) will be taken by Imperial Republican staff at 4:30 p.m. at the school on East 9th Street.
Casey Francis and crew will cater the banquet meal starting at 6 p.m., which will be followed by introduction of the honor classes. A cash bar will be set up on site, Kunnemann said.

New this year will be door prizes being coordinated by alumni committee member Kelsey Steinkraus. Tickets will be handed out as alumni arrive, with drawings held throughout the evening, he said.
CCHS alumnus Mathew Chandler-Smith of Grant will provide music for the dance after the banquet.
Kunnemann said people still wanting to attend the banquet can purchase a ticket at the door for $30.
Those wanting to come visit with alumni after the meal and attend the dance will be charged $5 at the door.

It will be a busy day countywide Saturday as the Wauneta-Palisade alumni reunion is also set for Saturday.
Events start at 5 p.m. with tours of the school, followed by honor class (ending in”3”) photos at 5:30 p.m. at the school.
The 6 p.m. banquet will be catered by Grub ‘N 308. Entertainment is planned during the meal.
Members of the 15-year W-P class organize the alumni banquet each year. Heading up that committee this year is Taylor Dixon.
