An Imperial man is in the Chase County Jail after his arrest following an early Sunday morning stabbing that left at least two other men injured.
Jose Angel Garcia Porras, 22, remained in jail Monday afternoon for 2nd degree assault and use of a deadly weapon to commit a felony. Bond was set at $150,000. He must post 10% to be released.
Garcia Porras was one of a number of people attending a birthday party for an unnamed 18-year-old Saturday night at the Imperial city gym, Wisnieski said. The gym was rented for the party by Princess Valencia of Imperial.
An altercation between multiple individuals took place outside of the gym about 2 a.m. in the parking lot, he said.
Imperial police were called to Chase County Community Hospital at 2:08 a.m. after hospital personnel contacted the police directly asking for assistance at the emergency room entrance, he said.
Guillermo Lopez, 33, of Holyoke, Colorado and Rafael Morales, 21, also of Holyoke, had sought medical treatment at the hospital, both with stab wounds, Wisnieski said. They were transported to the hospital in private vehicles, according to Wisnieski’s report.
Both men were at the party, he said.
All four members of the Imperial Police Department responded to the hospital after the early Sunday call, he said.
The incident remains under investigation, the police chief said, by Sgt. Chad Ostmeyer and Officer Chris Bustillos.
Wisnieski said video taken from inside the gymnasium is being utilized in the investigation.
After initial treatment at CCCH, both Lopez and Morales were air-lifted to medical facilities in Kearney, one by helicopter and another by plane.
Wisnieski said Monday he believed one of the men had been released and the other remained hospitalized.
Garcia Porras recently moved to Imperial, according to the police chief.
