Lake superintendent expecting Labor Day crowd

Based on the phone calls and inquiries he’s received, the Enders Lake Recreation Area’s superintendent expects to be kept on his toes.
As the last big holiday of the summer arrives, Supt. Beau Licking anticipates having a busy weekend.
It’s actually started already. He said Wednesday some campers moved in for the week on Sunday.
Add to that some hunters who were already on site anticipating the start of the archery deer season opener on Sept. 1.
Licking said they are doing maintenance, dumping trash, making sure picnic tables are ready and other details ahead of the weekend.
All camping spots at Enders are first come, first served, he said.
Lake levels have dropped a bit this summer.
It’s to be expected, he said, “with the hot, dry weather and no rain.”
Low water levels have affecting boating recreation this summer. Boaters have been limited to one main boat launch area at No-Name Bay below the dam, on the south side of the lake, he noted.
Work is continuing to progress on the boat dock near campground A, below the shower house, he said.
Once that work is competed, they will move to establish a permanent boat launch area at No-Name Bay, he added.
The main boat dock on the lake’s east side, visible from the highway, is unusable, he said, due to the shallow water.
