Imperial Manor celebrates National Nursing Home Week

Starting on May 12, Imperial Manor and Parkview Heights celebrated National Skilled Nursing Care Week. This week is a chance to honor and spotlight those who live, work and volunteer in nursing homes and care facilities around the United States and was established by the American HealthCare Association in 1967.
This year’s theme was “Radiant Memories–A Tribute to the Golden Age of Radio’’ and is meant to honor the long lasting legacy of skilled nursing care centers.  IMPV celebrated by dedicating each day of the week to a decade. Decorations highlighting the 1920s-today were set up and staff and residents were encouraged to dress up for each era.
On Monday, residents celebrated the 1920s-1940s and had deviled eggs and shrimp cocktail during BINGO. Tuesday was the 50s-60s. Hamburgers, fries and root beer floats were served. The 1970s were celebrated on Wednesday with Jell-O molds. Residents celebrated the 1980s on Thursday with pizza, popcorn and a 80s movie. On Friday, cosmic brownies were the snack of choice to represent the 1990s-today. Music from each decade was played throughout the day to celebrate, as well.
