Holiday concerts on tap this month at CCS, WP

Christmas concerts are on the activities schedule for the month of December, featuring vocalists and instrumentalists at Chase County Schools and Wauneta-Palisade.
On Tuesday, Dec. 6, Jodie Liess will direct the K-5 vocal concert at 6:30 p.m. in the Longhorn gym. Students will perform old favorites like “Frosty,” “All I Want For Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth,” along with a number of new songs, including arrangements with jingle bells and wood blocks.
Next Thursday, Dec. 8, a band and vocal concert featuring students in CCS grades 6-12 is set for the school auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Directors are Agnes Strand, instrumental, and David Rushing, vocal.
Strand said her sixth graders will play their first-ever arrangement in which different sections play different motifs simultaneously, as well as a few two-part pieces. Her eighth grade concert band will play two arrangements.
Rushing’s choirs are polishing their two and three-part  harmonies for next week’s concert, he said.
WP will hold its grade 6-12 concert on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m. MT in Wauneta. The school’s pre-K through fifth grade concert will be in Palisade Dec. 15 at 7 p.m. CT.
