German sentencing delayed; Carter’s still on Friday

Due to a conflict on the defense attorneys’ schedules, Kevin German’s sentencing originally set for this Friday has been moved to January.
German, 26, will now be sentenced on Jan. 26, 2023 at 11 a.m., according to court filings.
German was found guilty in August by a Chase County jury of 2nd degree murder in the death of Annika Swanson of Imperial, along with kidnapping and false imprisonment charges. He was initially charged with 1st degree murder.
District Court Judge Patrick M. Heng approved and ordered the date change after a request from German’s attorneys, Clarence Mock and Denise Frost, that the Nov. 18 sentencing date conflicted with felony criminal proceedings in which they are involved.
Attorneys prosecuting the case for the state of Nebraska, Michael Guinan and Douglas Warner, did not object to the rescheduling.
German was found guilty Aug. 3 on three counts—2nd degree murder, the kidnapping of Swanson and 1st degree false imprisonment of Eve Ambrosek.
Keonna Carter’s original sentencing date at 9 a.m. this Friday in Chase County District Court remains on the schedule.
In late September, Carter, 25, pled guilty in the Swanson case to amended charges of first degree assault and kidnapping after originally being charged with 1st degree murder of Swanson and two counts of kidnapping. One of the kidnapping charges had been dropped/dismissed.
