Free summer movie series starting July 9

The city of Imperial is resuming its free summer movie series thanks to support from local businesses.
City Clerk/Administrator Jo Leyland said the movies have been popular in the past, so they are resuming them this summer at the Imperial Theatre.
For five weekends in a row starting July 9, area residents will have free admission to a number of popular movies with older release dates.
Five businesses are providing the costs to acquire the movies so admission is free, Leyland said.
Four of the movies are on Saturday afternoon, with one on Sunday afternoon. Doors open at 2 p.m. with the show starting at 2:30 p.m.
    Here is the schedule:
Saturday, July 9—“Sing,” sponsored by Hayden Outdoors.
Sunday, July 17— “Sing 2,” sponsored by Little Sunshine Preschool and Daycare.
Saturday, July 23—“The Secret Life of Pets,” sponsored by Pinnacle Bank.
Saturday, July 30— “Minions,” sponsored by Farm Bureau Financial Services.
Saturday, Aug. 6— “Despicable Me 2,” sponsored by Harchelroad Body Shop.
Each of the business sponsors will also provide concession workers on their weekends, Leyland said.
