Fire, ambulance crews getting updated radios

Chase County Commissioners Jacci Brown and Duane Dinnel made quick work of their Nov. 22 regular meeting, wrapping up the meeting in less than 90 minutes.
The bid process was completed for 37 mobile radios and two repeaters to replace the current analog radios used by Lamar, Wauneta and Imperial fire departments and ambulance crews.
Prairie States Communications supplied the only bid, $65,567.64 for the radios and their installation and $21,360.00 for the repeaters. The bid was unanimously approved.
PSC’s bids for the equipment in October were $9,632.00 for each repeater and $66,085.56 for 37 XPR5550 UHF 40-Watt Mobile (Capable) Color Display, 12 mount kits, 25 slider installs, 12 split mount installs, 6 R-7 UHF Portable Display (Capable), 6 hard leather carry cases, 6 nylon carry cases, 6 remote speaker mics and 6 wireless remote speaker mics.
Brown and Dinnel approved a new resolution concerning wages for temporary road employes and also a resolution with Nebraska Department of Transportation concerning  land survey corner preservation.
Filling spots on the various county boards continues to be a point of emphasis for the commissioners. Making sure members of the public know boards have openings is a priority. The commissioners delayed adding Barb Hogsett as a new board member of the Imperial Community Center until awareness of the board opening spread.
The commissioners’ next meeting will be one day early on Monday, Dec. 12 at 8 a.m.
