Sue Moore, president of the Imperial VFW #4688 Auxiliary, was instrumental in bringing the “Remembering Our Fallen” memorial and a half-size replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier for a week-long display at the Lied Imperial Public Library.

Fallen soldiers remembered with special displays

Two veteran memorials are on display in Imperial, adding to an already busy weekend in the community.
The “Remembering Our Fallen” memorial and a half-size replica of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier are located at the Lied Imperial Public Library until July 18, after its unveiling Tuesday this week.
The displays are free and open for the public to visit.
“They will be in the meeting room on the northwest side of the library. When the library is open during the week, people can visit during regular hours,” Library Director Beth Falla said.
During Saturday’s Smokin’ on Broadway only the north library door will be unlocked for people to visit the displays. There will be no entry from the doors on the south, Falla said.
The memorials are owned by a non-profit organization called Patriotic Productions out of Omaha.
“I saw the exhibits in a publication from the Nebraska League of Municipalities and reached out to Patriotic Productions for more information about the exhibit. I reached out to Sue Moore from the VFW Auxiliary when I learned it was during the same time as the Chase County Challenge, which the VFW Auxiliary is a part of,” City Administrator Tyler Pribbeno said.
Moore, VFW Auxiliary president, worked alongside Pribbeno in the process of bringing the memorials to Imperial.
“The VFW Auxiliary will be watching over it on Saturday, July 15, during Smokin’ on Broadway. We are raising funds to renovate the kitchen at the VFW Hall, and we are participating in the Chase County Challenge,” Moore added.
Moore raised enough funds to have the entire memorial exhibit this week paid for by local sponsors—Chase County Veterans Memorial Committee, Adams Lumber, Pinnacle Bank, Waypoint Bank, Wolf Auto, Imperial Napa, Adams Bank & Trust, Colson Agency, 21st Century, Imperial Country Ford, Southwest Title Company, Platinum T-Shirt & Embroidery, Hill’s Family Foods, Hayden Outdoors, Family of Jana Pribbeno, and VFW Auxiliary #4688.
