Driver cited after vehicle leaves highway

First responders were called to the scene of a one-vehicle accident Oct. 26, after a Benkelman woman’s vehicle left the road east of Imperial.
Chase County Sheriff Kevin Mueller said his office received the emergency 911 call about 11:38 a.m. last Wednesday, reporting a one-vehicle car accident just east of the church camp on Highway 6.
A 2014 Ford Escape SUV was located in a field on the north side of the highway and was totaled, Mueller said. The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Ashley M. White of Benkelman, 25, was out and walking around when first responders arrived.
Mueller said she reported she had been traveling eastbound on the highway when she became ill. The vehicle crossed the center line before leaving the roadway, according to his report, then struck the culvert at the entrance to the church camp and went airborne through a fence line on the east side of the property, taking out a support line for a power pole in the process.
The sheriff said White was uninjured and refused medical treatment/transport from the scene. The vehicle was later towed.
Mueller said White was issued a citation related to the incident for operating a vehicle with no operator’s license and is due in Chase County Court Nov. 30.
The Imperial Volunteer Fire Department and Imperial EMS were also dispatched to the scene.
